With today's technology, you can be thousands of miles away from your computer and still post a travel article on a blog.
Travelers simply need their mobile phone or access to a land-line and they are able to relate their tales to TimesOnline which uses a voice-to-text service called SpinVox. Apparently, SpinVox is 97 percent accurate, although it doesn’t mention whether a person’s accent might affect the outcome.
The voice-to-text service is being used as part of the TimesOnline's YourWorld campaign with BMW.
Once the post has been recorded it is translated in to text by the software program and is then manually moderated to ensure quality, and published online. Outstanding entries will be considered for the print publication so why not try it out for yourself, see if it works for you and perhaps get an article in The Times at the same time!
I’d love to hear from anyone who has used this new service.
Official details are as follows:
New to Your World, users can now submit via voice. Just dial +44 151 266 5764 and tell us your name, your age, the town where you live and then tell us your story. Your submission will be converted to text and posted on the Your World site. Please note that you can speak for a maximum of two minutes, so you may want to practise first. The cost of a call from a fixed landline will be charged at national call rates - calls from some operators or mobile providers may vary.
